Nayeli Bernal, MPH

Nayeli has fifteen years of experience in community-based research, including program evaluation, strategic planning, and assessments of needs and assets designed to improve community health and well-being. With a background in both consulting and academic settings, her areas of expertise include health, including school-based health, reproductive health, mental health, and HIV prevention; child development and early education, including school readiness and family support; higher education access and retention; and youth and community development. Nayeli has provided project management, group facilitation, and research support on comprehensive, large-scale studies utilizing a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, and participatory photography. She is also skilled at analyzing data and synthesizing complex information into user-friendly reports and presentations for a variety of technical and non-technical audiences. Prior to joining ASR in 2016, Nayeli worked at the University of California’s Nutrition Policy Institute, Harder+Company Community Research, and the University of California, San Francisco. Nayeli earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley; a certificate in English/Spanish Translation and Interpretation from the National Hispanic University; and a Master in Public Health with an emphasis in Community Health Education from San Francisco State University.
